On the occasion of International Nurses Day, HRH Crown Princess Katherine sent her warmest congratulations to all nurses and medical technicians in Serbia, the Republic of Srpska, and around the world. This day is an opportunity to highlight the important role of nurses in the healthcare system, as well as to give thanks for their selfless work and dedication to providing healthcare.
“Nurses are the heart and soul of any healthcare system. They are always there to provide care, support, and comfort to patients and their families. They face challenges and risks on a daily basis, yet remain committed to their work, doing everything in their power to protect the health and safety of patients.
Dear nurses and medical technicians, thank you for everything you do for everybody who needs medical assistance. Thank you for your courage, dedication, and sacrifice. Thank you for your tireless care and love for your patients, as well as your dedication to assisting the doctors. You are the heroes of our everyday lives, we are counting on you, and deserve all the praise.” – said HRH Crown Princess Katherine.
Her Royal Highness also emphasized the importance of cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experience among nurses, as a key factor in raising the quality of health care. Precisely for this reason, HRH Crown Princess Katherine established the Royal Nurses Board, which aims to provide support and encourage collaboration of nurses throughout our country in this important sector.
International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on 12 May, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is considered the pioneer of modern nursing. This is an opportunity to acknowledge and thank all the nurses and medical technicians around the world, who, through their work and sacrifice, make a huge contribution to the healthcare system and the well-being of patients.
